How is this possible?
The answers are very simple: my husband, Justin. Without his support I couldn’t do it. Having a solid support system is the key to any power mom’s success. It also all boils down to loving what I do. I like to think of my household like a business and I’m the CEO. I applied 5 business concepts operations to my home.
1. Family Plan – Business Plan
2. Family Systems – Business Systems
3. Family Brand – Corporate Identity
4. Family Members – Shareholders
5. Family Finances – Financial Model
With those 5 business concepts I just listed and my everyday 5 step power mom guide. Your on your way to becoming a CEO mom.
Step 1: Love yourself first – This is the number one thing that I always fall back on. No matter what happens in any given moment, at the end of the day I go home knowing how happy I am just being me.
Step 2: Love what you are doing – I have found that I cannot love myself without loving what I do. Even when I have been in situations where I had a mountain of unappealing projects coming up, to survive I always try to find something about the projects that speaks to my heart, I latch onto that, whole heartedly, and surprisingly everything else just seems to fall into place. It’s all about finding the passion!
Step 3: Learn how to stay in love – For me this is the most important step. I fell in love with my husband 14 years ago. It was definitely love at first sight! In our 13 years of marriage I’ve learned that it’s important to share your dreams and innermost thoughts and feelings. Let your life together be an adventure.
Step 4: Count your blessings – Literally. I try and remember to list things that I am thankful for. It takes about 1 minute, but it makes a world of difference to my attitude on any given day. A little quote I like to use. Happiness is a decision. It brings me back to reality. Sometimes we can get so caught up chasing dreams that we forget why we’re chasing them. I have had to reel myself in plenty of times…and I’m sure I’m not done reeling.
Step 5: Understand your finances – Even if you are in a mountain of debt, until you know how high that mountain is, you won’t be able to climb down. David Ramsey’s book The total money makeover is a great tool to evaluate your family’s finances and stay on budget.
So take charge, get informed and wake up. It's a bright new day. Go Moms!
